The teaser trailer for ‘Salt’

Sony Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for next summer’s action/ spy film ‘Salt’, which stars Angelina Jolie as basically a female Jason Bourne-type character with an identity crisis.. This film looks surprisingly fun and the trailer has enough jaw-dropping action scene moments that this film is now on my radar.

‘Salt’ comes to theaters everywhere next year on July 23rd, 2010.

New ‘Kick-Ass’ teaser posters
Lionsgate has premiered the first official teaser posters for the upcoming Matthew Vaughn adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic ‘Kick-Ass’ over at IGN.
The official synopsis for ‘Kick-Ass’ is
“the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name “Kick-Ass” assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).” (via)
‘Kick-Ass’ hits theaters on April 16th 2010.
I’m currently reading ‘Kick-Ass’ which is just about to conclude and it’s already one of the more memorable miniseries this year. It’s a blood-soaked celebration of comics, violence and hardcore fanboy obsession. If it’s anything like the comic, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

The first official trailer for ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’

Disney has finally released the first trailer for ’Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’, which is based on the video game of the same name. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Prince Dastan ( and Jake’s first role as a Persian). The film also Gemma Arterton as Tamina, Alfred Molina  and Ben Kingsley (as the typical bald villainous-type he typically plays).

‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ is directed by Mike Newell, who previously directed Donnie Brasco, Pushing Tin,Mona Lisa Smile, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ will hit theaters everywhere next summer on  May 28th, 2010.

For the most part this film looks really fun and action-packed. I still have serious reservations about Jake Gyllenhaal  being cast as the prince. As much as I like Jake Gyllenhaal  as an actor, you don’t get much whiter than that, and he’s the prince of “Persia”. Was someone like Dev Patel not available? With that aside, this looks like it will be the best video game-to-film adaptation, ever.
