Yeah… too surprised about these findings.

3 Smart Things About Sleeping Late

talby:

expectoomuch:

1 // You may need more sleep than you think.
Research by Henry Ford Hospital Sleep Disorders Center found that people who slept eight hours and then claimed they were “well rested” actually performed better and were more alert if they slept another two hours. That figures. Until the invention of the lightbulb (damn you, Edison!), the average person slumbered 10 hours a night.

2 // Night owls are more creative.
Artists, writers, and coders typically fire on all cylinders by crashing near dawn and awakening at the crack of noon. In one study, “evening people” almost universally slam-dunked a standardized creativity test. Their early-bird brethren struggled for passing scores.

3 // Rising early is stressful.
The stress hormone cortisol peaks in your blood around 7 am. So if you get up then, you may experience tension. Grab some extra Zs! You’ll wake up feeling less like Bert, more like Ernie.

Wired Magazine

My Chaotic and sporadic sleep patterns have been validated.

“A Denver TV station is reporting authorities may have foiled an assassination plot against Barack Obama, and there’s talk the suspects may be members of a white supremacy group. KUSA-TV claims three men are in custody after a routine traffic stop in Aurora (near Denver) turned up two rifles, high-powered scopes, ammo and meth. The man in the car led authorities to a hotel where another suspect jumped out of a fourth floor window in an attempt to escape.”

TMZ isn’t the most legitimate news source, but this seems like a developing story that has yet to fully play out. Where is Agent Jack Bauer to when you need him. This is straight-up ‘24’ season one stuff.

Tasty!
Garden Burger’s BBQ riblets are surprisingly good. And not in that passing “oh, it’s good for a soy-based product.” It’s good in the sense that it literally tastes like meat. In fact it tastes exactly like what’s inside the McRib sandwich (which is also very tasty) but this is healthy! And for all you vegans out there these are it’s got the Vegan seal-of-approval on the box.

Red and Yellow Watermelon Soup

A two-toned chilled watermelon soup? I didn’t even think a soup like this could be scientifically possible. This is culinary genius! Why must the internet prey upon my love for watermelon and soup.

I finally broke down today and bought a Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottle so I can be trendy, but more importantly, environmentally friendly.

Why is cell phone radiation the new hotness again?

Does this mean I need to get a bluetooth headset and look like an asshole?

This finally gives me a reason to give pork rinds a try and not feel completely horrible about subjecting my body to such an experience.
