God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.”

- Tyler Durden – ‘Fight Club’

Bigger Stronger Faster - Trailer

Written by Peter J. Tomasi

Art by Patrick Gleason

I’m not sure what is going on lately in comics, but there is just a steady level of mediocrity flowing through most of the mainstream titles. This is why ‘Green Lantern Corps’ has been so refreshing. I just started reading GLC during last year’s Sinestro Corps crossover and I was surprised by how entertaining this book was for not featuring any DC comics mainstay heroes. Since Green Lantern has his own title and the Green Lantern Corps is an endless array of disposable heroes to tell stories about. What makes this title such a good read is that it focuses mainly on two Green Lanterns, Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardener and there backup Green Lanterns from other planets made up of other species. Since these are not big name characters, especially the supporting cast, interesting stories can be told in this book that allows for unconventional characters and story telling to take place. Its not a rarity to see a character from this book go through horrendous events or even die because they are allowed to tell actual stories here without having to be bogged down by the confines of the editorial staff.

Recently the cast of this book has been dealing with the clean up effort from the Sinestro Corps war and making sure there are no other Yellow Lantern rings out in the galaxy and discovering a known villain has a Yellow ring already in his possession and is recruiting members to his cause.

Peter Tomasi has been writing this series for a while and is also currently writing Nightwing and wrote the great mini series about Black Adam. Tomasi is on the fast track to not only being one of my favorite new writers at DC comics but is also one of the best kept secrets DC has.

On art duties is Patrick Gleason who is another talent DC has and will hopefully be put on a bigger title in the future. Gleason’s art has become more and more polished as the series has gone on and is dynamic but keeps a gritty animated style that works so well for all the action scenes and various alien races that are featured in this book.

Green Lantern Corps is a fun cosmic title that gets better and better as the series progresses and is allowed to flourish and find it’s stride. While the mainstream books are so bogged down in continuity and crossovers its nice to have a fun comic that surprises you and exceeds beyond expectations in art and story while not even starring any mainstream characters.

The new Mates of State - 'Re-arrange Us' is already online.

The new Mates of State - 'Re-arrange Us' is already online.: It’s only 128kbps but damn I can’t wait to buy a copy of this.

"Kim on ‘The Real World’ looks so busted when she isn’t made up."

“Kim on ‘The Real World’ looks so busted when she isn’t made up.”

Top 10 Things You Forgot Your Mac Can Do

Top 10 Things You Forgot Your Mac Can Do: 8.

Ralph Hardy, a 13 year old from Newark, Texas confessed to ordering an extra credit card from his father’s existing credit card company, and took his friends on a $30,000 spending spree, culminating in playing “Halo” on an Xbox with a couple of hookers in a Texas motel.

…

The escort girls who were released without charge, told the arresting officers something was up when the kids said they would rather play Xbox than get down to business.

Police said they were alerted to the motel by a concerned delivery clerk, whom after delivering supplies of Dr Pepper, Fritos and Oreos had been asked by the kids where they could score some chicks and were willing to pay. They explained they had just made a big score at a “World of Warcraft” tournament and wanted to get some relaxation. On noting the boys age the delivery clerk informed the authorities.

When police arrived at the motel they found $3,000 in cash, numerous electronic gadgets, an Xbox video console with numerous games, and the two local escort girls.

Ralph had reportedly told police that his father wouldn’t mind, as it was his birthday last week and he had forgot to get him a present. The father, a lawyer said he had been too busy, but would take him on a surprise trip to Disneyland instead.
Asked why he ordered two escorts, Ralph said he thought it was the thing to do when you win a “World of Warcraft” tournament. They told the suspicious working girls they were people of restricted growth working with a traveling circus, and as State law does not allow those with disabilities to be discriminated against they had no right to refuse them.
The $1,000 a night girls sensing something up played “Halo” on the Xbox with the kids, instead of selling their sexual services.

Ralph’s ambition is to one day become a politician.
