Suburgatory’s Jane Levy Is New Star Of ‘Evil Dead’ Remake
Deadline is reporting that Jane Levy is in final talks to take the lead role in the remake of ‘Evil Dead’ that will be directed by Fede Alvarez. Levy replaces Lily Collins, who exited the film. Levy is the star of the ABC series Suburgatory, and stars in Fun Size, the Josh Schwartz-directed film for Paramount.
In the remake of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead, Levy’s plays Mia, a character that corresponds to Ash, who was played by Bruce Campbell in the original 1981 movie. Mia is one of five young people who head to the remote cabin where evil awaits. Recovering from a recent overdose, Mia is particularly vulnerable. Director Fede Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues and Diablo Cody revised the latest draft of the script. The movie is scheduled to open April 12, 2013. (via)
SOLD! Anything that gets Jane Levy more work is damn fine news to hear. I’d watch her in anything, but for some reason this casting feels very inspired and a better fit than Lily Collins.
