The Phoenix force obviously.

What you need to know is that The Phoenix force is headed for earth and seeking a new host, most likely Hope from The X-Men. Believing that the Phoenix Force will jump start the Mutant race, The X-Men are in favor of it returning. Although I thought Second Coming, and more so The Children’s Crusade fixed the whole “No More Mutants” problem. This brings the Avengers and specifically Captain America, who declares war on the mutants and leads an invasion of Utopia because they are anti-Phoenix force. This of course leaves Wolverine stuck in the middle of both teams.

This information was all gathered by Newsarama from the most recent X-Men & Avengers solicits, and this sounds just dumb enough to be the cause of Avengers fighting X-Men. My biggest issue with this is forcing Wolverine to choose a side. Wolverine’s an X-Men at the end of the day, not an Avenger. That plot point shouldn’t even be an issue. Captain America invading Utopia seems so out of character that I wouldn’t doubt that to actually happen. As much as I love superhero comics, it’s events like this that set back mainstream comics and make most people still think comics are for adolescent boys.
